One of my students a while back approached me after class and invited me to coffee. I wasn't expecting that coffee would lead into such a great friendship. A year had past, when we went out to dinner and she told me she had cancer and was going to start chemo and such. She was so brave and beautiful during that experience, I was so inspired by her. She was strong and made it through and is now back to full health.
A lady recently ask me to draw a pincurl girl with no hair inspired by her sister who died of cancer at 36. It wasn't something I planned on doing because I didn't want it to be depressing. But the more I thought about it, it wasn't depressing at all, it was such an incredible experience both good and bad that I was compelled to create her after all.
I have named her Laura after my good friend. Please send this around to anyone you know who is going through the experience of cancer, hopefully it will lift them up and remind them how beautiful they are. And to my aunt Judy, we all miss you and know you are still looking down on us.
I am donating $5 from each print sold to the American Cancer Society.

Create a world of wonderful magic.
This is Mandy. She is the newest pincurl girl. She loves her red hair and daydreaming about magical lands. In her world everything she wants comes to her. All she has to do is believe it will come true. Until then, she doesn't become impatient, instead she fills her time by laughing with her friends and drawing funky flowers in her sketchbook.
The Law of Giving
“Practicing the Law of Giving is actually very simple; if you want joy, give joy to others; if you want love, learn to give love; if you want attention and appreciation, learn to give attention and appreciation; if you want material affluence, help others to become materially affluent. In fact, the easiest way to get what you want is to help others get what they want.” -Deepak Chopra
Today I am going to give away something very special to me. I don't know what it is yet or who I will give it to, but I will know when the time is right. After doing Cami Walker's 29 Day Giving Challenge, I know there is something magical about giving.
If you give a gift today, let me know the story.
