One of my students a while back approached me after class and invited me to coffee. I wasn't expecting that coffee would lead into such a great friendship. A year had past, when we went out to dinner and she told me she had cancer and was going to start chemo and such. She was so brave and beautiful during that experience, I was so inspired by her. She was strong and made it through and is now back to full health.
A lady recently ask me to draw a pincurl girl with no hair inspired by her sister who died of cancer at 36. It wasn't something I planned on doing because I didn't want it to be depressing. But the more I thought about it, it wasn't depressing at all, it was such an incredible experience both good and bad that I was compelled to create her after all.
I have named her Laura after my good friend. Please send this around to anyone you know who is going through the experience of cancer, hopefully it will lift them up and remind them how beautiful they are. And to my aunt Judy, we all miss you and know you are still looking down on us.
I am donating $5 from each print sold to the American Cancer Society.
